Assam

Geography and Climate:

Day 1 Arrive Guwahati – Shillong

  • Arrival in Guwahati: Your exciting journey begins as you arrive at Guwahati Airport or Station. Known as ‘The Light of the East,’ Guwahati is the commercial hub of Northeast India, positioned alongside the dynamic Brahmaputra River.
  • Travel to Shillong: Begin your journey to Shillong, a charming hill station often referred to as the “Scotland of the East.” As the capital of Meghalaya, Shillong is a major tourist hotspot in East India.
  • Enroute Stop: On the way to Shillong, make a stop at Umiam Lake (Barapani), the largest artificial lake in Meghalaya. This picturesque lake, surrounded by lush hills and Khasi pines, offers breathtaking views and tranquil beauty.
  • Check-in: Upon reaching Shillong, check into your hotel.
  • Evening at Leisure: Enjoy your evening at your own pace. You might want to explore the vibrant Police Bazaar for shopping or take a leisurely stroll around the scenic Ward’s Lake.

Day 2 Shillong to Dawki & Mawlynnong Shillong – Excursion

After breakfast, head towards Mawlynnong Village, renowned as 'God's own garden' and celebrated for being Asia’s cleanest village since 2003. Situated in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, about 90 km from Shillong, this village is a model of community-driven eco-tourism. The residents' collective efforts keep the village pristine, surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Enjoy a trek to the living root bridge in the nearby village of Riwai, and see the unique natural balancing rock, a boulder precariously perched on another rock. Take a short trek to the Living Root Single Decker Bridge (approximately 30 minutes) and explore the village. Also, visit Dawki near the Indo-Bangladesh border, where you can take a boat ride on the crystal-clear Umngot River (boat ride available for direct payment). In the evening, return to Shillong for an overnight stay.

Day 3 Shillong to Cherrapunjee – Excursion

Approximate Distance: 120 km • Estimated Travel Time: 3 hours 44 minutes In the morning, after breakfast, head towards Cherrapunjee. On the way, stop by Elephant Falls. Upon arrival, visit Arwah Cave, Seven Sisters Falls, Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsmai Cave, Garden of Caves, and Thangkarang Park. Return to Shillong for an overnight stay.

Day 4 Shillong – Kaziranga (260 kms 6 hrs approx.)

After breakfast, drive to Kaziranga. Kaziranga, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is Assam's oldest park, situated along the Brahmaputra River. This national park is a haven for diverse flora and fauna, home to the largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses in the world and approximately 15 species of India's endangered mammals, among other significant wildlife. Upon arrival in Kaziranga, check into your hotel and unwind, as the rest of the evening is yours to enjoy at leisure. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.

Day 5 Kaziranga

Awake to the melodious calls of exotic birds and the scent of blooming flowers. After breakfast, head out for a Jeep safari in the Central Range (subject to park operations). Entering through Kohora, this area encompasses Daphlang and Kathpora. Following the safari, enjoy a tour of a local village and an outer view of a tea garden. After an adventurous day, return to your hotel. Overnight stay in Kaziranga. Note: Kaziranga National Park is closed from April 1st to October 31st each year (dates may vary based on Forest Department directives). If the park is not operational, you can alternatively visit the Kaziranga National Orchid & Biodiversity Park.

Day 6 Kaziranga – Guwahati (250 kms 5 hrs approx.)

This morning, after breakfast, drive to Guwahati. In the evening, take pleasure in a river cruise on the Brahmaputra River. Upon arrival in Guwahati, check into your hotel and unwind, as the rest of the evening is yours to relax at leisure. Overnight stay in Guwahati.

Day 7 Departure Guwahati

After breakfast, check out from the hotel. Your extraordinary journey through the lush landscapes concludes today. You’ll be transferred to Guwahati Airport, where you'll bid farewell with unforgettable memories. Note:

  • The vehicle will depart from the Guwahati Hotel to the airport at 9:00 AM. Guests are advised to book flights departing after 11:00 AM.
  • As this is a group tour package, departures will proceed only if a minimum of 10 passengers is met. If this number is not reached, you will have the option to shift to another departure or continue with the current departure by paying the applicable private vehicle supplement.
