Upon arriving at Bangalore Airport, proceed to the International terminal for your flight to Paro. Upon arrival at Paro Airport (2,280 meters), complete the immigration formalities and collect your baggage. You will be greeted by our representative and then driven to Thimphu. After reaching Thimphu, check into your hotel and take some time to relax.
After breakfast, drive to Buddha Dordenma, situated atop a hill in Kuenselphodrang Nature Park, which features the largest statue of a sitting Buddha (51.5 meters). Next, visit the Takin Preserve to see Bhutan's unique national animal, the Takin. Continue on to the Sangaygang viewpoint to enjoy panoramic views of the Thimphu valley. Before lunch, drive past the King's Memorial Chorten, a stupa erected in memory of Bhutan’s Third King, who is widely regarded as the Father of Modern Bhutan. After lunch, visit Trashichhoedzong, the center of both government and religion, which houses the monarch’s throne room and the seat of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot). This fortress was built in 1641 by the political and religious unifier of Bhutan. In the evening, you can explore Thimphu’s city center, including the local market and crafts bazaar. Browse through examples of Bhutan's traditional arts, including handwoven textiles, thangkha paintings, masks, ceramics, slate and wood carvings, and jewelry. Dinner and overnight stay at your hotel in Thimphu.
After breakfast, check out from your hotel and drive to Punakha. En route, make a stop at Dochula Pass, where you can admire the Chorten, Mani wall, and prayer flags that adorn the highest point on the road. Upon arrival in Punakha, check in to your hotel and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, visit Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan's largest and most impressive fortresses, located at the confluence of the Pho Chu (Male River) and Mo Chu (Female River). Later, experience the Punakha Suspension Bridge, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and is adorned with prayer flags. Walking across this bridge, which spans over 160 meters above the Po Chhu River, provides an exhilarating and memorable experience.
After breakfast, drive back to Paro, descending from Dochula Pass. Follow the route through the scenic Wang Chhu and Paro Chhu river valleys, passing through Paro Town before reaching the north end of the valley. Upon arrival in Paro, check into your hotel. Later in the day, visit Ta Dzong, originally built as a watchtower and now housing the National Museum. Explore its extensive collection, which includes antique thangkha paintings, textiles, weapons and armor, household items, and a rich array of natural and historic artifacts. Next, walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong, which translates to “Fortress of the Heap of Jewels.” This fortress has a long and fascinating history. Inside the inner courtyard, you will find wooden galleries adorned with exquisite wall paintings depicting Buddhist lore, including scenes like the Four Friends, the Old Man of Long Life, the Wheel of Life, episodes from the life of Milarepa, Mount Sumeru, and other cosmic Mandalas. After breakfast, drive to Drukgyel Dzong, a recently restored fortress where Bhutanese warriors once battled Tibetan invaders. From the approach road to the Dzong, you can enjoy stunning views of the sacred Chomolhari, the “Mountain of the Goddess.” On the way, visit the 7th-century Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the 108 temples built in the Himalayas by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. This temple marks the introduction of Buddhism to Bhutan. Afterward, return to your hotel and enjoy some leisure time for the rest of the day. For those who prefer a more adventurous option, take an excursion to Taktshang Monastery (Approx. 5-hour walk). (Entry fee and lunch are on a direct payment basis.) Taktshang, also known as the “Tiger’s Nest,” is one of Bhutan’s most famous monasteries, perched 900 meters above the Paro valley floor. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche flew here on the back of a tigress and meditated, giving the monastery its unique name. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
After a leisurely breakfast, visit the local market to explore and purchase souvenirs for your loved ones. Next, head to a local farm where you can engage in various activities, such as archery, trying on traditional local attire, and enjoying a traditional Bhutanese lunch. Following your farm experience, visit a local brewery to observe the beer-making process and enjoy a tasting session. Return to your hotel to relax and prepare for your flight back home the following day. Overnight at the hotel in Paro. Supplement for a couple's Hot Stone Bath at the Farmhouse: INR 2000 per person.
