The valley is adorned with a variety of endemic flora, including orchids, poppies, daisies, and primulas, creating a colorful carpet against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks. Apart from its natural beauty, the Valley of Flowers holds mythological significance in Hinduism, believed to be associated with the epic story of Ramayana.
Journey and Experience: The journey from Rishikesh to the Valley of Flowers typically involves traveling by road to the town of Govindghat, which serves as the base camp for the trek. From Govindghat, pilgrims and nature enthusiasts embark on a scenic trek of approximately 14 kilometers to reach the Valley of Flowers. The trek passes through picturesque landscapes, dense forests, gushing rivers, and quaint Himalayan villages like Ghangaria, offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks along the way.

"Ghangaria, situated at an altitude of 3,050 meters above sea level in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state, is a scenic hamlet. It marks the last human habitation center on the way to Hemkund Sahib and the Valley of Flowers. Ghangaria is the confluence of Pushpawati and Hemganga River, forming the Lakshman Ganga. Govind Ghat, located on NH58 along the banks of Alaknanda River, serves as the starting point for the trek to Ghangaria, which is an easy 13-kilometer trek from there. Along the way, you'll likely be enchanted by the beautiful mountains and cascading waterfalls. The trek from Govind Ghat spans 10 kilometers to reach a bridge, followed by a steep 3-kilometer stretch to Ghangaria. Due to heavy snowfall during winters, the region remains closed from December to April. Accommodation options in Ghangaria include a Gurudwara, GMVN rest houses, and a few private hotels."
